While you can market your book whenever and however you like, you'll want to have a specific strategy in place for its official release. Here are a few things you might want to look into to maximise your chance for success:

📚 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀: This is a great way to start accumulating reviews before your book is formally published. eARCs are a great option if your budget is tight.

📚 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺: Having a group of people who can promote your book on their own platforms is great to get readers talking about the book. Set clear expectations!

📚 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲/𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗯/𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹: Reveals help generate anticipation amongst your online followers. Space out reveal events and include countdowns for maximum effect.

Since our YA novel #HoldingUpTheSky by @rebeccaalasdair was published in November 2022, we've sold more than 300 copies. Interestingly, this is about half and half ebooks and paperbacks!

It's not a *massive* number, but since we embarked on this publishing journey with zero expectations, it's kind of wild to think more than 300 people have bought this story of ours. 😱

How do you get the formatting done for your paperb

How do you get the formatting done for your paperback book?

Your first option is to hire someone to do it! Much like cover design, formatting is something you don't need to do on your own. There are plenty of experienced and professional formatters out there who can help you.

But the other option is to do it yourself. Adobe InDesign is sometimes considered the "industry standard" for document formatting, but there are other more affordable options out there like Vellum or Atticus. Even MS Word might do in a pinch, but there's not as much functionality.

Whatever you choose, make sure you follow the file requirements of your chosen publishing platform!!
